I’m joining Stasha for the first time on the Monday Listicle. Today’s list refers to home.
Ten words that describe our home are:
1. Floral. Although our magnolia tree’s blooms are already gone, it’s still a big enough tree to make people stop and look. We have daffodils, elephant ears, and azaleas in bloom now.
2. Abundant. We’re growing strawberries, tomatoes, and hopefully cabbage.
3. Flanked by irritating neighbors. This needs no further explanation.
4. Unkempt. Try as I might, I can’t keep the place clean.
5. Musical. Impromptu dance-offs, preferably with instruments none of us can play. There is always music on.
6. Brick.
7. Aromatic. If chicken and/or bacon is your thing, you’re in the right place.
8. Loud. We all contribute.
9. Fun. There’s nothing like an UNO tournament or hide and go seek where the toddler hides in the same spot every time, amazed that he was found first yet again.
10. Well-stocked with spirits. And no, I don’t mean ghosts.
I oftentimes complain about my house. It’s dirty, overflowing with paper, too noisy, too small. Yet, I remind myself that while it may be those things, it is also ours and I wouldn’t trade it. (Well, I would, but it’d have to be for one hell of a better house!).

#10..I am all over it! I promise not to be an irritating neighbor if you always have an adult beverage to offer me.
Abundant is a fantastic word. Glad you are so emotionally tied to your home.
I like how your house sounds. A lot like mine!
UNO and bacon. It doesn’t get much better than that. Ellen
It sounds welcoming to me. I wish I were your neighbor….I rarely run out of eggs, but sometime I get low on spirits!
I think I would really like being at your home!!!!!!!!
“Unkempt”….an absolutely perfect word to describe our house too! I see you saved the best for last. :D
1. The Magnolia tree and the Cherry tree are my two favorite type of trees. I love the blooms on a Magnolia.
4. Impromptu dance-offs – loving it!
9. Too funny
10. Can I come by…it will help take the pain from #4 (because with my kid nothing’s in order @ my house. I’m working on it, really I am, no really). Oh and besides, I really like spirits.
Yeah, I struggle with the piles too.
I don’t know.
I mean, I’m busy with my kids, reading to them, cooking for them, driving them where they need to be, volunteering at their school.
Something has to give, right?
And I have to make peace with it.
Your house sounds like a happy and love-filled place to grow up! Flowers and noise and dance offs? What more could a kid want?!
We always have music playing in our home too. It just makes it seem lighter and easier for us to have fun and let some of the day to day stresses go so we can enjoy each other. A dance party can start at any moment depending on what comes across those air waves! ;-)
Also, we love chicken and bacon!! Yum!!
I love how you described your house. I’m flanked by neighbors who annoy me at times, BUT they keep my neighborhood safe with their vigilant watchfulness so I shouldn’t complain….:)
I love #5….music is always on in our house. It makes everything…even cleaning…fun. Throw in some spirits from #10 and you have yourself a party :)
Sounds like a lot of fun. Which reminds me we need more wine around here!
Oh that hide and seek moment…
“How did you find me AGAIN?!”
There really is nothing better.
Except maybe chicken and bacon…
(Yes. Abundant and Aromatic work well for me, too.)
Girl..Well stocked with spirits and not ghosts. I died!! Yes, we keep quite the arsenal over here as well. Better to have it and need it. Than to not have it and need it!
Spirits are vital! Sounds like a great place! Loved your list!
I think we live in the same house. If we were neighbors, we could come to each other’s houses and feel not so alone among all those women who enjoy scrubbing their floors every day. Or week. Or month. Whatever. :)
